Nutjob2000.2 is Thursday June 8 - Details Here!

OH! If you weren't there, you missed it! This was a really novel experiment for us, and it has been interesting to see how it's turned out. We took 2 pc's live to the show, one for HTML editing and viewing the pages, and one for video capture, editing and upload to the web. We had a lowly regular phone line and ended up relying on the strength of Tom's invincible $22 56k modem, while my box sat unused except for some hot games of minesweeper (sorry; it's not a good gaming machine...) and a little note taking.

The aforementioned Tom tioned Tom of the Protocine and PDXnet Talent Pages shot video throughout the event. He captured it right there, edited it (or not!) right there, and uploaded it during the event. Due to load-out (of course we helped!), we didn't upload the last 2 bands videos until this afternoon, but I'm pleased to say that we're nearly complete here. This was not live streaming, but it was as close as you could get without spending thousands of dollars on the server bill. Protocinema is a cheap, efficient and quick way to make motion art and display it to people, and is meant to prove that you don't need a TV or radio station to reach a mass audience.

This is a totally different way of looking at things. It means stepping away from expensive mediums and embracing new technologies that allow you to be flexible and experimental. We call this Protocinema or Protocine for those of you with outrageous accents. Number one rule of Protocinema; no scripts. Number two; all content from the finished piece must originate during shooting. Just a word of advice for good Protocinema: don't let the camera roll on a bunch of crap, the more cutting in camera you can do, the better off you are.
